I saw this. Glad to see VGL is getting more of the publicity it deserves!

What is it? A text article? I don't have a 360, so words like "spotlight" are meaningless to me. :p

Good point. Anyone have a copy of this article for the non-Xboxers on the forums?

thank you very much, I'd like to read it as soon as someone can get it up here or link to it.

It's actually a video rather than a text article. I don't know, does someone produce transcripts of those things?

I'm sure it'll be put on YouTube sooner or later.

Cool, most recent post on all four forums!

Wii's Nintendo Channel is better 'cause you can do full screen. ;)

Now I own the boards!

Halo is probably the biggest Xbox game used in VGL, not to mention the fact that its their flagship game. To be honest, its a wonder they used anything else besides!

I got the impression that Songbird was being sarcastic.

What with the ellipsis and eyeroll smiley.

Me: So Microsoft, why is Halo the most prominently featured game in this video?

Microsoft: What do you mean? THERE ARE NO OTHER GAMES. THERE IS HALO. ONLY HALO...ONLY HALO...

Feh. Microsoft will have to do better than that to control my mind.

Its a from a British TV show called Doctor Who (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who). Its about an alien guy (who just happens to be humanoid) from a race that perfected the art of travel through time and space, and the adventures he has with his human companion rescuing strange alien civilizations and making sure the past and the future of the earth run as they are meant to.

Its well worth a watch if you can track it down! I know it incredibly popular over here and I believe its started leaking through to the US as well, but I not sure how accesible it is there.

Due to the nuances of the main character (ie that he can sustain a fatal wound but escape death by regenerating himself into a new actor ;p) it is possible for there to be effectively 13 different actors playing the role of the Doctor, so after the series was put on hold in the early 1990s, itthe whole thing was picked up again from where it left off earlier this decade!

I'd reccommend watching the ones with Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant (the latest ones) as they are slightly more accessible!

Just like Myrph said Link89, it's from Doctor Who. It's a little speech that the Doctor gives in one of the newer episodes when someone asks him who he is. The show is slowly starting to pick up steam here in America and I only just discovered it last year. I watched one episode and loved it! I now own all four of the newest seasons on DVD. I'm with Myrph to in that if you want to watch some, start with the ones starring Christopher Eccleston or David Tennant. That's what I did and I quickly became a fan.

Here's the scene the quote is in if you want to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRSFwMqKIu8&feature=related

Part of the reason Doctor Who has had a renaissance in the US is that it's finally off of public broadcast and on an established cable network (SciFi Channel). Thus, the "modern" Doctor Who has become much more popular than the previous version that ran from 1963 to 1989. There was also a TV movie designed as a backdoor pilot that aired on FOX in 1996 but unfortunately was poorly promoted and ran against (or was preempted by) sports; it lost badly.

Yes, I said this series started in 1963. Even taking into account the large gap from 1989 to 2005, this is still the longest running science fiction TV series ever. As a result, it is a bit hard to get into cold. Your best bet is, as Myrph and Wareagle said, is to stick with the "modern" Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor and David Tenant as the Tenth Doctor. The Eleventh Doctor will be taking over sometime next year.

the name of the show sounds familiar, I want to say my dad used to watch it.

the clip looks promising though, I'll definately take a look at it.

Yeah, the new Doctor Who's good fun, though some episodes fall a bit flat occasionally. I think Tennant is much better than Eccleston, but Northern Doctor was still alright.

Back to the topic, I checked on Spotlight's available archives (though admittedly only a couple of days ago) but didn't find the piece on VGL there. Doesn't matter since it's been YouTubed here, but is it a US-only feature?

It very well could be, but as I don't have an Xbox, I wouldn't know.
