Hey guys, haven't quite been on for a while but I promised I'd put up a video of our marching band doing video games and here it is. The first song is Zelda, the next Kingdom Hearts, then Mario, and finally Halo. This was our performance in Andover, Kansas (boring little place but still had fun) we got 1's all around! Enjoy and feel free to give PRODUCTIVE criticism! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyXd7uq95ks

"Looks closely at the post."
Is the video invisible or something because I can't find it?!
Oh, and congratulations for all of the 1s!

Okay good, so I wasn't losing it. :p
I'll respond after watching....
Alright here are my thoughts....
I wish I could have seen this in person because as we know the video doesn't quite do justice. Also from experience, other environmental factors can affect ones hearing of the marching band mainly the wind and the crowd.
It's probably just me, but I think the colorguard should have been more interactive with the theme excluding the Mario part - that was good. For example, it would of been better if the flags were in character like when you go into the Halo part after Mario; what does the colors yellow red black have to do anything? It would of been cool that instead of flags for the Halo theme the colorguard could have used hula hoops or during Zelda have sword dancing or battles. I guess the flags were good for the Kingdom Hearts part because they were in color.
As far a music goes my criticisms would have to be the dynamics are hard to hear, but I'm aware of how hard it is to hear such things with all of the factors that go against it.
I also noticed that some of the marching was on the safe side at times when playing at certain places, but there were some pretty neat formations! Does the W stand for Wario? -Just Joking-
If you have any questions in particular that you want me or us to answer please let it be known. I don't want you to feel that this is all I've got; it's hard for me to be clear on everything without guidelines -Sorry about that >_<*
Oh! And two questions! What was the title for the show and could you pretty please list what the title of the songs are called in the order that you played them?
Thank you for sharing this and a big thanks for everyone at Shawnee Mission KS West Pride Marching Band for spreading the passion of the video game culture! :)

To answer your first question the title of our show was Video Games (I know kinda lame) and the order of the Music was Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Mario, Halo. As for the flags yeah we could have done that but we're more of a traditional marching band. Our drill doesn't always relate to the theme. The safe side is because of the trumpets lol. The W stands for West lol. And for the flags...well I think that the flags are really expensive last I hear they were made out of silk not the cheap polyester crap other bands use and because of that we can't go out and buy new flags every year (stupid budget cuts!!) so we reuse them. and lastly yeah the wind was horrible especially for the colorguard and the sousaphones D: its was like 20 or 25 miles per hour that day. umm the exact order of the music was a bit of halo in the beggining, then zelda, then kingdom hearts, then mario, then halo again and then zelda to finish it out.
That was awesome man! Thanks for sharing! :D

I understand that some bands are more or less traditional in their performances... and that some bands have more or less money than others as well.
The safe side is because of the trumpets lol. - That's what I figured. :p
But that does REALLY stink having to play in the stupid wind. That's why I kind of think that most marching band competitions should be played in an inside stadium or something; it would allow the smaller bands to sound louder - although that would be the same for bigger bands competing against the smaller ones.
I've got two more random questions. Is that real or fake grass that you in the video and was the sun in a bad spot?
