One of the things I love about Video Games Live, besides the talent of the musicians, the creativity, and vg music, is the variety. From what I've seen on youtube, there's orchestras, choirs, an electric guitarist, pianists, flutists, saxophonists, and more. Something I would like to hear more are songs with solo voices in them. I know there's some beautiful songs with singing (One-winged Angel, Civilization IV, Halo, etc), but there's some more I think would be good. Here's what I would like:

Xenogears Small Two of Pieces, Broken Shards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mG-EC6c754&feature=player_embedded Never played the game but loved the song on OCRemix.

Final Fantasy IX The Rose General by Kate Covington. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv1ayA8flDA&feature=player_embedded. Have her on the show if you can!

Sonic Adventure "It Doesn't Matter." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDpZ9Qg761I Sure some of the lyrics are kind of... what's the word?... Pointless? Unwise? But it's a super catchy song. Or maybe "Open Your Heart"! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS9ppG5ys8I Or maybe "Live and Learn" from SA2! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9zZus_1_ag

And if you were really bold you could put words on screen and let the audience sing along to... THIS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjGfgV7rJHI Mwahahaha! I would laugh until my sides ached. I need to play that game.

Who exactly would sing these songs is beyond me, and I know it's probably not as easy as it sounds to find a good singer. But I would like to see some of this.

One last thing: how about some overclocked remixers performing too? There's the corny, addictive Chrono Trigger "The Incredible Singing Robot" and rocking Mega Man 3 "Cataclysmic Clash" (but maybe the lyrics aren't perfectly family friendly).

The Portal Song? The Portal Song?!?!?!?

It's "Still Alive," for crying out loud!

But it's been brought up before, and I agree. I'd love to hear a couple more pieces with singers in them (I personally enjoy the chorus more, but some extra singers are never a bad thing). And "Still Alive" has actually been brought up by Tommy himself, who may be considering doing something with it.

I think this one has been discussed before. Unfortunately, considering the family friendly nature of VGL, its unlikely to ever make it into the show, nevertheless, its a hilarious song and would be brilliant performed live!!

As for more vocal pieces in VGL, I'm kinda leaning the same way as Terraguy, something like Still Alive would be great as a piece to do either at the start of the show or during the interval, but as for main segments, I think I'd rather stick to choral pieces. I think they're just slightly more magical than songs with singing.
If I had to have a vocal piece though, I think I'd rather have something like Eyes On Me or Melodies of Life or even The Cheesy RPG Song (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/265702#)!!

I must say I prefer the original Rose of May.

Sonic Adventure "It Doesn't Matter." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDpZ9Qg761I Sure some of the lyrics are kind of... what's the word?... meaningless? But it's a super catchy song. Now that's talking. Crush 40 ftw!

Or Loss of Me, depending on the quality of the translation. As to your preferences, some people just don't care for vocalizing tracks. Still, I think Kate the Great's lyrical version of that piece is better than some professional vocalization works. For example, in an amusing bit of meta, Uematsu arranged Aerith's Theme with vocals written by Emiko Shiratori (vocalist for Melodies of Life) as "Pure Heart," which was performed by Ritsuki Nakano as part of her "Suteki da ne" single. That piece getting vocalized was pretty much fan choice, and even Uematsu admitted it was not a good one to choose.

I think this makes three times Kate's remix has been brought up around here. If we can't get her to show up at a VGL concert, someone should at least get her to drop by the forums.

Yes, Loss of Me, people call it so much Rose of May, I tend to call it that sometimes. And yes, I don't care for vocalizing tracks. I think voice as another instrument in a piece of music (neither less nor more important). Sometimes I find it fit, giving the example of Melodies of Life, since you brought up Emiko Shiratori, others, I find it uneeded. And yes, I'm entitled to my opinion.

Ha ha. I should just change the link so people wonder why in the world you're so upset until you edit your post. I'm glad that I'm still alive. Because I get to play with a neat gun! *big stupid grin*

Let's see... if some people don't want Kate Covington to sing a song that didn't originally have lyrics, maybe she could sing Xenogears "Small Two of Pieces" and kill two birds with one stone. (Don't worry, Songbird, they'll be ugly birds who can't sing)

Oh yeah... and I can't forget this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79x5dkMffxg&feature=player_embedded

I'm not serious about these JTLYK.

I also love your signature, Myrph.

All xenogears' music are GREAT, it's a complete piece of art and surely "Still alive" would make the crowd to swim in a lake of tears.

I bet you're right. I should hear more music from Xenogears. A puddle of tears, heh heh. (Oh wait, is it supposed to be a sad song? I don't know how the game ends)

Hey, is there any way to change the title to this thread to include "Kate Covington"? I think it would be nice to talk more about inviting her just like Laura Intravena and Martin Leung. A concert for the fans and partially by the fans! :D

Yes to Eyes on me or melodies of life! Or 1000 words. Any of those would be absolutely incredible. But 1000 words is really made special by the extraordinary talent of the singer, and she doesn't seem to popular in North America lol

Yeah, I would like to hear Eyes on Me or Melodies of Life. I like 1000 Words, but I actually think I like it better without the vocals; I love the piano version but I think the sung version is ok.

It'd be pretty amusing to have some vocal tracks from House of the Dead Overkill in there, but they're not really suited to either the orchestra or the family friendly audience, but Get Funky orchestrated would be pretty amazing. Still, I really like a lot of that soundtrack.

Grandia 2's A Deus and Laharl's Theme from Disgaea are the only other vocal tracks that coem to mind. Or that track from the FF Versus 13 trailer.
