Hi Everyone,
We get a lot of e-mails asking us if there is any way to help bring VGL to their local areas. The answer is.... YES!
Here is my suggestion...
One of the best and most helpful things you could do is to write, call or e-mail your local symphony or local concert promoters and tell them you would like them to contact us in regards to a performance. Send them the link to our website and tell them you think there would be a LOT of interest in our show in your area. When patrons contact the symphony it has a MUCH bigger impact then us trying to sell it.
And if you can get some of your friends to do it as well... even better! :) Believe it or not, a couple of e-mails can make a big difference. We've performed many shows based on a few people getting together and contacting their local symphonies. It really does help and make a difference!
Also, please make sure you join up to our mailing list so if we do make it out your way, you'll be the first to know.
Thanks again and we hope to see you soon!!!!

Hopefully this helps lessen the amount of people who keep asking... :p
Good news to hear. I think the bigger question that people always bring up (at least on the forums), is who to actually contact. From your post, I guess the orchestra itself, or an actual concert promoter would be the best choice. I don't know if a concert venue counts as a concert promoter though.
Can we advertise in our sites, blogs, etc? I believe one of the causes of the Lisbon show cancelation was lack of adds. Maybe also using some videos from YouTube so people can see what's the show about.

Yes, doing that is awesome, any way that you can promote the concert is greatly appreciated! Get the show out to all the people that might not otherwise encounter it and hopefully we'll get a bunch more enthusiastic fans turning up to the concerts, contributing to the forum and generally making the whole experience that much more awesome!
Originally that was what the Street Teams were meant for, but that never really took off in the way that it was originally intended to, so if you can and want to do anything like that, you've got our full support! Just don't do anything illegal or unpleasant, we want to keep our good name ;p
LOL. I'm not going to hack anything xD
Another thing that I've always been in favour of, was to create a local community because of the language barriers for some people (having in consideration that is "a show for all familly" and although English is well spread amoung newer generations after a certain age, it is not so well amoung older ones and younger kids). It's just an idea, I don't have the means to do so.

I'm still a little confused - what exactly is the purpose of the Street Teams? I think I get the general idea but I don't know too much about it.

The idea was that they would work with the VGL team in whatever town or city the show would be performing in and essentially spread the word about the show by distributing flyers, generally getting the word around about the show. They would then be invited back on the night of the show to occasionally help out during the pre-show and get back stage access. I don't actually know the whole story as to how and why it didn't work and why the decision was made to axe it from the forums, all I know is that it didn't work and now its gone!

It's as Myrph said, although just to add on it, they also wanted a small subset of the Street Team to help out with the pre-show events (set-up and what not), which would then garner them grab bags and backstage passes. As you can see, the set up volunteers are still needed, but the community appeal of getting the word out didn't go very far. I wonder what happened to the Street Team leader (I just forgot his name...).

Chris Tripoli? I believe he was the main webadmin guy, who doubled up as Street Team liaison in the forums. I guess now he's gone back to doing web stuff. Besides, I think most of the core street team stuff was actually done by Mike Tallarico, rather than Chris. That being said there was never a London Street Team, so I never actually found out what the whole thing was actually like on the inside.

Ah ok, I figured it was something like that.
Hey, when VGL comes back here I could always dress up as a game character to advertise!.... on second thought, here, people probably wouldn't even notice anything odd

Just sent an e-mail to the Orchestra here in Brasília. Let's see how it goes. Actually, they SHOULD move themselves to bring VGL here because it is Brasília's 50th Anniversary. So there should be events in the city.

I went on the site for my local vineyard, Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, CA, because they have concerts for their Summer Concert Series and looked for the concert promoters so I can e-mail them and suggest that VGL comes to Ironstone. There's just one little problem, there are so many contacts for people and I can't find the right person to contact! But I do want VGL to come there, is there any way I can persuade Ironstone? :D Oh and there isn't a local orchestra here EDIT:Actually there IS a local orchestra, it's in Bear Valley, CA and it sounds perfect for VGL! Here's the linkwww.bearvalleymusic.org Please consider this for VGL

I've been trying to get the Alabama Symphony Orchestra to bring the show back ever since I saw it in 2008, but I haven't succeeded yet. I guess it's time I step it up and recruit some more people to start an all-out email campaign.

So then even if a city is posted in the tour dates and listed as TBA you would need people to email the symphony for encouragement? See, I figured that if the city was as TBA listed VGL already had things going and the only issue would be scheduling and etc. Sorry for the noobish question. :o

Wait. So even if a city says TBA, things aren't necessarily in the making?
