Is it good?

It's a social network. Personal opinion: no. Social networks tend to become a bit of a privacy givaways as I really see no point.
Forums are for public discussion, web messengers are for private conversatios, websites (including myspace's and blogs) are for public content (news, opinions etc), flickr likes for photos, youtube for videos, etc. I think that's all really what you need, I find social networks pointless. But that's me.
Besides why do you want a facebook group, when you have these forums?

It's an addiitonal location to reach out to people who may not be familiar with VGL, and who may shy away from interacting on forums and don't really reach out to read blogs. In addition, the page allows the organizers to get a semblence of how many people are interested (naturally that won't be very accurate, but it still gives a number).
Personally, I'm not much for joining stuff like that. But hey, if you like doing it, go for it.
And for a sec, I was suspicious about the link (it's the OP's first post here), but at least the hotlink matches with the group's actual link on FB (haven't clicked the link though, so be careful?).

Shy away from forums but still upload personal info into the web...

That may be your opinion, and for most people that is true. But FB does have quite a lot of privacy options that can help close down their account to all but a few close friends.
Still, abstinence is the best prevention out there.

Careful not to be taken out of context. :p

I'm on facebook and I'd like to become a fan, but now I'm afraid to click on the link above. So, how do I find it on facebook?

Just search "Video Games Live" on Facebook. It should be the group with the most members.

I can also confirm that the link does in fact go to facebook, to the VGL fan page, rather than going anywhere unsavoury. If it was dangerous I would have removed it not long after the thread was opened.

I liked it!
(Just a shame I've never been to a VGL.... :( )

Hey Retro! First off congrats on 100 posts! Send me a PM and I'll hook you up with an avatar to celebrate! Also, remind me closer to the time and I'll see if I can't organise for us to head off to the London show together! Actually get you involved this time ;p

I suppose that it's nice that there's a FB page for VGL, but I, too, am allergic to social networking. :p
