View Full Version : Castlevania Lords of Shadow

So anyone else excited about this? I'm a die-hard Castlevania fan (it's my favorite segment in VGL) so I am pumped about getting to finally play it. I know it's going to be a reboot of the franchise so I'm really curious as to how they will change the story around, especially with Hideo Kojima working on it.

I'm looking foward to this new title. Mostly because it seems a fresh partial or full restart to the series. The plot seems taken more seriously, and after the latest installments of the series on GBA and DS, they really needed that. (Not that those games where bad, but had awful plots).

I just want a GOOD 3D Castlevania action game. I've hated all of the other 3D games and Lament is the worst Castlevania game of all time. I like pretty much every other Castlevania game though.

I'm one of the few that didn't mind Judgement since I'm pretty cool with Obata's far out designs (a little tired of Ayomi Kojima's designs and redesigns at this point) and I like fighting games. Still it wasn't an action game and I would like to see a good one.

Played the vast majority of Castlevania games throughout the years, going way back to the NES. HUGE fan of the series!

May not be my place to talk bout it but I've never really played the old, original Castlevania else than the GBA port so I'm not sure how to say bout how good it plays and all but I really enjoyed the GBA version..

So after seeing the gameplay footage on E3 I'm kinda looking forward to it, looks and plays better than the PS2 predecessor..

The GBA port of the original Castlevania is pretty much the same as the NES version. That game was remade a few times. Super Castlevania is my favorite of the remakes. Well my favorite Castlevania game really. Castlevania Chronicles was the last remake of the first Castlevania game. Not bad but I enjoyed Super Castlevania more.

I didn't mind LoI so much. I thought it was alright. I've never played Judgment so I can't really comment on it, partially because I wasn't too hot on the idea of a Castlevania fighting game. That's just personal preference though.

As for LoS, as I said before, I am super excited about it. I really think it's a good idea to treat it as a reboot and start the Castlevania mythology anew. I'll be happy as long as they keep the key elements intact: Belmonts, Dracula, and an amazing soundtrack. I've read in some interviews that themes from the classic series will be used in this game so that makes me feel better. The gameplay so far looks to be fantastic. I know there seems to be a lot of people who are calling it a God of War clone but seriously, what game nowadays isn't a clone of another? Every game borrows in some way from what came before it. If the game is good, then who cares if it's a "clone" or not?

Lament is the worst Castlevania game of all time.
I find that a little unfair. The game may not be a 10/10 but isn't bad. Have you played Order of Shadows or Legends?

I hope not, I mean, the music's good, but doesn't have that "main theme complexity", you know?
And it doesn't sound to me anything like Lord of the Rings, unlike the uploader claims.

Btw, anyone has any news on the film?

I liked the trailer. I have some expectations about Castlevania. Don't let me down Konami. You have to make up for the lousy storyline of recent titles.

Watched this last night. I think I'm more excited about this game than any other in the past couple of years. That may be due to my Castlevania fanboyery (legitimate word?) but still, I cannot wait for next week when it finally gets here!

Finished the game yesterday and overall it is excellent. I thought the final boss fight was rather epic :). I read today that a sequel is already in the works.
