Thanks for the reminder, I'd totally forgotten this was on.

The last one was fantastic, and this setlist looks like it's going to repeat the trick, albeit with a Nintendo sponsorship.

Oh sweet. This should turn out to be great, and thankfully I'll have time. Oh wait, darn, I actually have to be somewhere.

Shucks.

Tomorrow I'm home all day so I'll definitely start watching that tomorrow evening when it comes around! Might have another go at recording it if I can figure it out this time round. Can't guarantee anything for anyone though!

Well, if you do get a recording, I'd be really grateful.

Last year there was a concert called Symphonic Fantasies (which, as you can see, Symphonic Legends is the sequel), which featured music from Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Cross/Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy. It was excellent. Therefore, we expect the same out of this concert too.

So its a new event? Was last year held in Germany too?

Yep. Started last year.

EDIT: Never mind, I'm really wrong. This started two years ago, with Symphonic Shades. But yes, last year was in Germany too.

Well, I've just had a quick test run recording a different stream and it appears to have worked, although I can't tell if the sound is in sync properly, so I apologise if that proves to be an issue later.
If this event is anything like the last one, I should have some time with the filler at the beginning to test my theory with the actual stream again, so we'll see how that goes, but at the moment its looking good!
Anyone have any preference with regards to which stream I should try recording? Assuming my connection doesn't do something bizarre halfway through the stream, I'm tempted to go for the full broadband stream, although that will likely produce a ridiculously large file, so if people would rather a lower quality file which is smaller, I can try for that instead.

I was under the impression the only difference between the video streams was that each was optimized for different connection types and speeds (broadband, DSL, 56K/ISDN). I say record the stream that's appropriate for your connection.

I was under the impression that when it was optimised for different connection speeds, it meant that it was of different quality (like watching something in standard def as opposed to hi def on youtube) and as a result the recorded file would be of different sizes depending on which stream was recorded. As I will be watching it live, I'll be watching the broadband stream, but I can also utilise one of the other computers in the house to record it separately, so it wouldn't be impossible for me to watch the broadband stream on my laptop and then record the ISDN stream on my Dad's computer. To be honest, I might try and record both anyway, as I don't think it should tax my connection too much, I'd hope...

Yeah, that's more or less what I meant. If you're planning to upload to YouTube though, doesn't it downgrade automatically for anyone who chooses to watch at a lower resolution? Anyways, if you think you can get more than one stream, I say go for it.

My apologies to everyone who was hoping for a recording of the concert, it seems the video has been IP locked to Germany so anyone trying to watch outside Germany isn't getting any video. What I'll try and do, as I did last year, is try and find a recording elsewhere on the internet and share it with you guys!

Well, that explains why it wasn't working - it's the same reason folks outside the UK couldn't get the free Doctor Who adventure games. Well, at least the radio stream is functional outside of Germany.

@Myrph: This is strange, and certainly wasn't intended. Are you sure you noticed it was 8 PM *local german time*? Before and after the concert the stream didn't work, black screen.

Edit: Sorry, just saw the time of your post, seems to be correct (relative to mine).

This person has been uploading the concert on YouTube so I'd though I'd link it here. (http://www.youtube.com/user/KajunW#p/u/15/TwMhGe2yU3A) Just go to the playlist and click 'date added' for the songs of this concert will come up first; for now.

Edit: Another person also is adding music from the concert as well, but there's no filming of the concert; just the music. (http://www.youtube.com/user/solblade05#p/u)

Oh my god, I can't belive it. I miscalculated the time difference... ***k!

Well, I missed the first half-hour due to a safety meeting at work, but what I did hear of the rest was rather unimpressive. Metroid in particular left me going "What did I just listen to?" which I did not appreciate. The Zelda Symphonic Poem, while quite lovely musically, mostly just washed over me without much emotional effect. I think between staying away from more common themes and over-arranging more than a little bit the concert may have diminished the impact for people very familiar with the music from these games. However, to just a general orchestra-goer, I'm sure it was a good concert.

Yeah, I would have to say the best ones are Mario related because they sound the most familar.

The Mario segments were the most recognizable.

They could have made the other segments equally so, but somehow, they thought fluff was a good thing for originally melody-heavy music...

TurboChickenMan, I don't know what it is, but there seems to be a sort of subtext to your recent posts from which I can't help getting the impression that you didn't altogether enjoy the Symphonic Legends concert.

Why, I never!

I am deeply offended at such an insinuation!

P.S. The show was an aural cesspool. :D

Hmmmm...

What is a medley?

A miserable little pile of Castlevania music. But enough talk! Have at you!

...a cesspool of hatred and lies, perhaps? :D
