Just figured I'd make a Kingdom Hearts thread for discussion, theories, and questions before KH geekiness takes over the "what are you playing?" thread :D
Well, for one question, does anybody have any idea why Sora and Riku look like their KH1 selves in the trailers for Dream Drop Distance? I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with it possibly occurring through dreams, but the trailer is pretty vague in general and Nomura said that not even all the scenes are directly from the game...

And by the way, SPOILER ALERT. :D

To be honest I don't see how any information on Kingdom Hearts could be spoiler free considering most of us haven't beaten half of the current series.

One of the many questions I have for KH is from the first game; don't worry, no spoilers here. During Sora's vist to Agrabah there's a text dialogue with Genie. I can't remember exactly how the sentence goes, but he mentions that he remembers someone talking about a "Keyhole" 200 years ago.

Who could it be? Was it before or after the Keyblade War? Why was Genie out of the lamp in the first place? Will S-E bother to answer this question?

Haha, I guess I want to know what happens in KH3, but at the same time I wouldn't have the system to play it, and I really don't want anything else right now for PS3... So my own selfishness prevents me from really wanting the game to come out :p Although it'll have to eventually, in which case I might have to shell out some money for the system (that's if it's even still PS3 at that point), and think of some other reasons why I want it.
Now, if only they'd release BBS on something besides PSP, I'd be set :D

I wouldn't say I'm "sick" of it, but I would like to see an installment on the PS3 sooner than later. Now if KH3 was put on a handle then I would be miffed, but I doubt S-E would do that. So as far as we know there are two games to be released before KH3 ever will be.

I beaten Terra's story line yesterday and now am working on Ventus's story. The story itself isn't that hard, but it's everything else that the player has to do that takes so long to finish the game. The Kingdom Heart series is one I try to get everything completed.

I usually just do it for the love of the series, but yes the secret/extra video helps. I know I haven't perfected the first Chain of Memories, because I found that one frustrating to play; Re: Chain of Memories was much better in my opinion. Then there's also 358/2 Days, I have several more missions to complete, but that will take a ton of grinding before I can even attempt those; I'm looking at you Dustflier. KH1 And KH2 I have everything done; from collecting the dalmatians to beating Hunter X. :D

Ugh, I despise the Dustflier. I think I tried fighting it only once and I got pwned in about 2 seconds. Need to level up, I guess.
And yeah, I'm the same way about completing everything; it almost hurts me to finish KH1 without getting the secret ending and knowing I accomplished everything. I can't believe one time I got everything but I forgot to finish Hundred Acre Wood :rolleyes:

What's worse is when you finish a Kingdom Hearts game knowing there's a Final Mix version for it that you'll never get to play. :mad:

Which also means you don't get to hear the new music or beat up new bosses or see more cutscenes that's part of the story...... :(

I'd also think it'd be kind of cool if they made a Disney theme park level and made at least some use of the music from the NES game Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. After all, I believe that game's music was also written by Yoko Shimomura :D

I know I love that song! The only way it gets better is if you watch the show live, which I have.

Maybe when the World was one it was called Epcot. :p I could so see Space Mountain music the game! It could be in a Gummi level or maybe a Buzz Lightyear area? Here's the music for those who want to listen...

Another interesting thing I found, but I'm not sure if it's purposely done or not; if you have't beaten KH1 then stop reading if you want no spoilers. At "The End of the World" area there are a lot of sharp colored objects which are forged with purple rock-like surface. In another area called "Final end" has that with some tiny waterfalls; here are some pics...

They do look pretty similar in design. I wouldn't be surprised if that was intentional, considering Chernabog (also found in End of the World) is from Fantasia as well.

Well, there kind of somewhat is something in BBS that's festival-ish, but no not anything like like that. This is a little off topic, but there is a level in Kirby's Epic Yarn which kind of looks like the Space Mountain ride!

I haven't seen World of Color before, but I am impressed! They combined Firebird and Hellfire with Night on Bald Mountain! (mind is blown by epicness)

Yeah, I bet Daisy Duck is trying to over throw the 'mouses' so that she and Donald can rule the kingdom; she's always been somewhat of a jealous type. :p

To say the Spirit and Unknown are hard would be a huge understatement. I've never fought up against Final Mix bosses, but I think everyone agrees that they are indeed the hardest bosses of the series; no offense, but they make Sephiroth look like a cute cuddly teddy bear. The battle comes down to two things: perfection and the mercy of the A.I. The Spirit can be beaten by using a few tricks, but don't let that fool you; he only has one bar of health, but his defense is very high. There are no tricks to use against Unknown and he is a huge spammer. Unknown can clone itself, can turn invisible which means you can't lock on to it, block attacks that heal, and controls time. Did I mention that D-link and Shotlock are useless and their attacks always result taking down your health to one hp?

Yeah, it doesn't look like a coincidence, as the Soul Eater looks a lot like that wing.
By the way, this (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Invincible_%28Final_Fantasy_IX%29) is the Invincible from FF9. I guess I thought of it because it has the eye on it. And I also knew almost nothing about the FF series except for the first game until just a few years ago, and now I'm a pretty big fan of it (although I've probably broken some unspoken rule by never playing FFVII for more than a few minutes...) and I especially love IX and X. At least the game plots themselves have pretty much nothing to do with each other besides some minor details (like chocobos!), so I didn't have to play through the whole series like I would have to with other games :D

Definitely one of my favorites of the FF games I have. It retains a very good balance of fun, adventure, and seriousness and isn't overloaded with angsty characters. Fantastic soundtrack too :D

They need some more FFIX characters in Kingdom Hearts, since I love the inclusion of Vivi (one of the best FF characters... he's as adorable as WALL-E, but sadder) in KH2, even in a pretty minor role.

Hmm... although I do love my FFIX characters, I cringed when I first heard Vivi's voice, since FFIX didn't have voices for them. Was not expecting it. I'm not sure if I want more characters to go the same way, but ever since Dissidia....

I actually don't mind Vivi's KH voice, but maybe that's because I played KH2 before FF9, and when I play FF9 I imagine Vivi's voice as a somewhat modified version of his voice in KH2.
Zidane in Dissidia sounds like he belongs in a Sonic the Hedgehog game or something... Kuja was alright but not fantastic.

I'm actually a little disappointed with the lack of Final Fantasy characters in the current series. Perhaps if they decide to make a game based from the Keyblade Wars they'll have more them in that?

Yeah, there are so many great characters that they can still use, in addition to using more unused Disney worlds.
I love how they included a younger Zack in BBS (I haven't even played any of the FF7 games for any period of time, and I know what a lot of people think of the spinoffs, but Crisis Core is a fun game to watch on Youtube and I like Zack as a character more than I like Cloud). But from what I heard, he is the only FF character introduced in BBS. And no new ones were introduced in Days, I don't think.

Hm, I should watch the credits fully and keep an eye out for that. As far as Zack goes, they sort of ended his story in the game a bit mysteriously. But it seems to fit in with his character I suppose :D

It's from Birth by Sleep and really it's not a spoiler because I think they've shown one of the characters before; it's an organization member before the organization.

I knew I made that hint too easy, but it was the most creative one I could think of! I was going to use this riddle -What goes through the door, but never goes in or out- but then you could just copy and paste it in search; then it also said door, which is also a dead giveaway.

after they put out FFXIII-2 (more than likely at the end of the year) AND Versus XIII (which will take WAY longer), then they will focus on KH3. it's as simple as that.
it bugs me when I see people on other sites complain that KH3 is not coming yet.
from what I've heard, the gameplay for Versus XIII is a way to show how KH3 could play when it comes out.
for now, everyone play the waiting game.

I guess I never did clear up what I meant.

Look at the tiles of Radiant Garden; they're not as colorful as the ones found at the "End of the World" however they are triangles like the ones from Fantasia's Symphony No. 5 segment. To add more connection to it that level has a lot of waterfalls/fountains.

I did my best to see what I could come up with frame by frame and this is all I've got...

The area which is on the screen looks like Traverse Town; perhaps it's a hub realm?

Above Sora's head icon there's two circle with a head in each of them. One of them looks like one of the things he runs into; a multicolored robot looking panda. Another thing I see is a multicolored lizard thing, but I don't think it's in the second circle thing.

Oh and will use the 3DS add on as well.

It does seem like a rather strange game, doesn't it? But I'm still looking forward to it! As if the other KH games weren't already strange enough... but this one certainly takes the cake (or sea salt ice cream, perhaps?) :p

I'm also surprised at the seeming lack of FF characters, as the game appears to have more characters from The World Ends with You (which I have never played and know next to nothing about, although I've heard some good things about it). The very end of the trailer is stuff that's been discussed a bit in the series already. I'm just surprised that it seems as though some key plot points are covered in this game, including questions many people have about what happened to certain characters :rolleyes:. Although, of course, this is KH, so I expect that for every answer given, another question (or more) is created.

Well, PSP got BBS, but I might be even more happy about this one, which is on a system that I'm more likely to get! Now if only they'd release KH3 on the Wii U (I mean, really... a few major releases in the series have been for Nintendo handhelds at this point. Can't we just get ONE main series numbered release!?). I kind of doubt it, but maybe not quite as much as I would have doubted it a few years ago. Hey, if numbered FF games can be released on both Microsoft and Sony systems, maybe Nintendo can get something really major from the KH series :D

Yesterday I got one of the most beautiful brown boxes ever; of course, that’s because the Mark of Mastery was inside it. After weeks of worrying if I would ever get one considering I waited too long to pre-order from GameStop I was able to snag one from Amazon; actually, I had pre-ordered one from Toysrus before hand, but it was backordered.

The contents inside the box are really nice; naturally the game is there, but not only did it come with SE points, but Club Nintendo points as well. Along with some AR cards it came with a series of art cards and a clear KH protector case. Originally, I thought it was silver, but I do like my red 3DS. Plus, if you take out the braces in the box there’s artwork done on the inside of it.

Now… you may or may not have noticed one thing which seems off in my description.

Yeah, I am missing two out of five AR cards: Frootz Cat and Kab Kannon. To only make matters worse this screw-up is apparently widespread be it people that are missing all of them or even getting duplicates. I know I could just get them off the computer, but I did buy the collectors edition for a reason.

I just beat the game and I have to say, it's my favorite of the handhelds (I've never actually played BBS so I can't really judge that one though). There are even some things that I like better than KH2... even though I still think KH1 is my favorite game in the series, but this comes pretty close.
The whole "world of sleep" thing is still throwing me off, though, and I've done a pretty good job at keeping up with the KH plot. But I admit, there were some parts of this game that made me a bit teary-eyed :rolleyes:. There are very few things that can be as cheesy and sappy as KH and still almost make me cry...

And ansovald, if you use the camera from the Spirits menu and point it at the cards, it should be able to work. The card with the dream eater symbol on it is just sort of a virtual viewing stand for your dream eater, but the other two cards give you one new dream eater each (I'm assuming the R&R Seal on one card, and the other card gives you one of 3 special dream eaters). Sometimes weird things happen with it, but keep trying and you should be able to get it to work eventually :D.

I have no idea how long it’s going to take for me to get my cards considering I didn’t file a complaint until almost a week after release; that's when I go it. They have my ticket and I’ve given them the info they requested, but I’m still waiting for their response; that was a week ago. >_>’

I haven't really tried to get all the portals except the secret ones later in the game (usually I just get the ones I happen to run across whenever I'm in the level), but I think that you should be able to get them all just by dropping repeatedly... although I've never really tried, so maybe you can find a guide or something :p

Dang… this game is so addicting. The Poke- I mean Dream Eaters is taking way too much out of my life, but I love it! I spend like almost 10 minutes to figure out what to call my Spirits. On top of that I’m grinding like mad; I shoot for at least 15 levels before going to each world. Oh, and in regards to the missing portals back in Traverse Town I’ve noticed in my guide that you go back there so that’s probably why they’re not there yet.

In speaking of the guide… it’s very disappointing to say the least compared to their previous entries. They list you the Dream Eater pieces, but they don’t tell you which Nightmare drops them. There’s a list of what makes a Spirit, but they don’t tell you what the rank will be; oh, they also forgot how many of each ingredient is required. It doesn’t tell you which Dream Eater unlocks what command/abilities. The description of the Forecast is very brief and doesn’t even mention the importance of Risky Winds. Hardly talks about Flick Rush. Probably out of embarrassment from the last guide’s complete inaccuracy of how to defeat the Mysterious Figure they didn’t even bother posting anything on how to beat this game's secret boss.

There is one rather funny thing in the book though. For each world they give a short description of it and this is a snippet I found that I thought was rather amusing; again, this is only part of it so I don’t potentially spoil anything.

… featuring high-rise buildings in the style of New Orleans, Louisiana…

So I’m assuming when I get there I’ll see characters from the movie, “The Princess and the Frog.” :rolleyes:

Congrats on beating the game :D! I haven't done all the secret stuff since I kind of rushed through the storyline the first time, but hey it'll give me more to do as I play through proud and critical modes! The 358/2 Days "movie" has already been posted online by various people; some have already added the English subs (at least directly copying the text from the same scenes in the English game, but it's still probably pretty accurate). Can't wait until the English dub is released :D. Too bad HD remix isn't available for Wii U, but at least I have the original versions of each of the games :rolleyes:
And the part I was most looking forward to seeing is just cutscenes anyway.
