So it is to be coming out by the 4Q of this year. We know it will be graphically updated, but the rest has not been confirmed. What do you want to see happen to the game?
I'm curious to see if there are weapon changes and/or additions considering Reach is before it; maybe dual wielding will come back?
What would be great is if they would recreate the original soundtrack.

Just thought I'd pop in and remind you that not only has "the rest" not been confirmed, but none of that has been confirmed either. It's all rumours at this stage. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if they turn out to be true, though.

I appologize, I did only read the source which came from Joystiq. (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/04/halo-combat-evolved-hd/) Could someone add the word (Rumor?) to the title please? :o
Joystiq has learned that the previously rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved will indeed launch this holiday season for Xbox 360 with a full visual overhaul. Sources explain that the re-release is not Bungie's 2001 Xbox game simply running at a higher resolution -- it's being remade with new art assets. While Halo's audio will likely remain unaltered, the controls will allow for more recent Halo configurations.
The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is allegedly being developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift and Namco's upcoming Inversion, but we've been unable to confirm the nature of the engine powering it. We understand that it's something other than the Reach engine.
The Halo: Combat Evolved update, one of two Halo games currently in development under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op).
The game is expected to re-evolve on November 15, 2011, ten years after Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the Xbox. Our sources didn't know of any plans to similarly upgrade the recently disconnected Halo 2, but it's hard to imagine Microsoft playing favorites with its biggest franchise.
I think that is a confirmation.

No sir, a confirmation is a press release.
Information from a "source" is a slightly more credible rumour.

First off, I would like to say thanks to the current powers for altering the title. Second, I didn't mean to rush into things; hopefully we'll here official news sooner than later. That aside, what are your thoughts?

"Remake" is a loaded word. Most people want a straight port with Live functionality, maybe with a few graphical upgrades.

One thing is for sure, everyone will be delighted to play the greatest Halo level of all time, the Library!

This is an interesting rumor that I will have to be sure to keep my eyes and ears open for more info as the year progresses.

I'm being serious. xD Not having the same voice for Sgt. Johnson would be like trying to find someone else to replace Chuck Norris. :p

YES! They are orchestrating the original music for the game. Click here (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/07/halo-combat-evolved-anniversary-soundtrack-getting-full-orchest/)
Oh, and happy Bungie Day!

There is almost no point to this remake. The multiplayer is not being ported, a classic map pack for Reach will be released instead.
They gave the excuse of lag & latency ruining the original experience. Total BS.
They WILL be adding online co-op, but that is not worth $40...

Ah, you're misinterpreting.
The multiplayer runs on the Reach engine which is better optimised for netplay, since Anniversary is basically a literal port of Combat Evolved with another graphics engine running on top, and since the original was never built for Live it would run like a crippled tank. What this means is that players of Anniversary can play those maps (which will, presumably, enjoy their own playlist set as every other map pack has) along with Reach players. It still all comes on the disc. A good comparison would be Halo 3: ODST and Halo 3's sharing their multiplayer element.
EDIT: In fact, at no point in that article does Frankie mention the idea of it being made a map pack to begin with. So it may well be that the extra maps are exclusive to the Anniversary disc. He does clearly suggest that all existing Reach content would come along with it though, with his mention that remaking Blood Gulch would be redundant.

By "the multiplayer is not being ported", I of course mean the original gameplay engine. The classic map remakes that have been released for 2, 3, and Reach over the years are NOT as fun to play as they were in Halo 1. Different physics, different weapon balance, different overall mechanics. I personally find the art styles (NOT the same thing as graphics in the technical sense) inferior as well.
People used to get together 4 Xbox 1's, 4 CRT TV's, 16 large controllers, 4 game discs, and network cables to get the full experience back in the day, and people are still using Xbox Connect to make it happen. It's the second most requested online enhancement after GoldenEye N64.
I once heard a quote from Bungie (can't source it, but I definitely didn't imagine it) saying that the game was designed with online in mind, but XBL just wasn't ready at launch.
This will be a full-priced release. For that, we are getting a re-skinned campaign that almost everyone has already played, 2 player online co-op, a reorchestrated soundtrack that we didn't absolutely need, and a limited number of map remakes for the Reach engine.
Yeah, the pistol was overpowered. At least everyone started with it so controlling the super weapons wasn't everyone's immediate thought at the start of every round. And did you notice the armour locking in the trailer? *shudder*

So... you are complaining that the single player is the same, and also that the multiplayer is - for a combination of unavoidable technical issues (which you call "BS" from your expert position as a Guy On The Internet - there is, shock, horror, a difference between a LAN and goddamn Internet matchmaking you know) and avoided demographic splitting issues - not the same?
In this "full-price release", which is curiously $20 cheaper than any game conventionally called a full-price release.
As for art and audio direction (I agree on the art direction by the way - the new Mk. 5 suit looks pretty silly in particular), well, you could just get the original game and play it in HD on your 360. No one is forcing you to buy this game. You don't have to take it not being to your taste as a personal insult to NERD RAGE over.
EDIT: Nostalgia glasses are a myth. Quality is quality. Please don't try and convince me that there is any modern building with the solid construction or geometric perfection of the Pantheon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon,_Rome).
Note that solid does not necessarelly means stable, take look at Taipei 101 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taipei_101).
Also, don't know what you mean by geometric perfection, but if you visit Spain, you should visit the Alhambra in Granada, "a palace to celebrate symmetry" built in the 14th centrury. Browse a bit of Islamic architecture as well.

I'm familiar with the architechture of Granada. Very nice, but I prefer the old Roman stuff.
Those buildings use virtually nothing but circles, triangles, and quadrangles made from marble, cement, and bronze. No plaster, no over-the-top ornamentation, no oblong shapes, tons of space. Technical perfection.
@ Swish: I have two complaints. One is value for the money. $40 is too much to pay for an old re-skinned campaign, 7 multiplayer maps that don't match their intended gameplay engine, and few other odds & ends. $20 is better, maybe $25 if it's really polished.
Second is the failure to include Halo 1's multiplayer engine, which WOULD justify the price to many people. There is NO technical limitation (the BS that I was referring to). Netcode can be added to pretty much anything (see Perfect Dark on XBLA, a game NOT originally intended for online - a bit laggy, but not game-killingly so), but not only does it take a lot of time/money for testing, doing this would split the playerbase before Halo 4, a major marketing no-no.
I really hate it when companies don't expose the real reasons behind their decisions...

I thought I asked the mod gods to remove the 'Rumor'
Anyways, has anyone one here watched the new terminals from game; it's only making me more impatient for the release. Here's a fun fact; although I can't find anything to confirm it I think the 'red light bulb' has the same voice over with Saren from Mass Effect. I'll link them here if anyone is curious.
Here's one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBdrlpF-yOs) and another one; (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJfWdvFFWYk) the second one does feature something familiar from Halo Legends. ;)
I am a bit sad though... no more reflecting sticky grenades with armor lock. :(

I never Heard the rumor. Did you get your hands on it yet ?
Okay! I am not going to sit here much longer.
Is this guy a bot?
Something seems a little... off...
Anyway, I'm not all too interested in this remake, as I still haven't completed the original one on the xbox
And I have my xbox in my living room, so if I really wanted to play Halo, I could just boot it up.

Anyways, here's a behind the scenes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quk-fTMvE-w) video for the remastering of the soundtrack.
And if you didn't know the soundtrack is also coming in the form of Vinyl! No, I'm not making this up.
