*Gasp!* Could it be?!

When are you most likely to get a gaming system? Is it when it first comes out, your birthday, a holiday of some sort, or some other reason? Also, of the ones you currently or used to own, when did you get them? For me most of mine are from Christmas time.

Yay! A new gamer question! Since it seems to have gotten kind of quiet around here lately...

I don't remember when I got all of my game systems, but of the ones I do remember:
SNES: Christmas present (I think, although I'm not absolutely sure)
N64: Christmas, 1999
GBC: 2000; I think it was a "graduation" present (for finishing elementary school)
GBA: I got the SP in 2003 when Pokemon R/S came out, which was also when GBASP was first released; I never had an original GBA.
DS: Got the DSlite when Pokemon D/P came out in 2007
Wii: January 9, 2007 (had been looking around for one for awhile before that, but happened to get one of the few copies that Gamestop got in that day :D
PS2: January 2009 (I finally just really wanted some games for it like KH and FF; unfortunately I JUST missed the price drop :mad:

I guess there isn't a "most likely" time when I would get a game system. Usually if there are games for a system that I really want and the price is decent, that's when I get them.

Oh, how I missed Songbird's gamer questions!

Well, the consoles I got when I was a kid were presents from my parents, so it was either Christmas or my birthday.

Then I started working and made very little money, so I had to sell my old consoles to buy new ones (oh, the sadness!!), but that's how it worked.

Nowadays, I usually buy a console after one year of its release, by then the price has dropped to something affordable-ish (Remember that video games in Brazil are EXTREMELY expensive, it's cheaper to import them, I kid you not.) and most bugs have been fixed.

One curious fact: I used to own a 3DO, I have never met a living soul who also had one. Has anyone here ever owned one?
