View Full Version : This place has lost it

This forum is pritty much people trying to sell junk that no one wants to see. Scince the show I will see is coming up I have checked out the board more often and all I see here is "LOOK STUFF I CAN SELL ON EBAY IS BEING ADVERTISED HERE".
THis is no EBay or anything of the likes. I see as the discription "ask questions about the show" and nothing else. If I wanted to come here it is to ask questions or answer others, not buy a $240 Ipod.
Seriously if this is a place to sell things the website would be called Sell Junk Here not Video Games Live. The only thing closest to what this forum is related to is "Hollywood bowl request"
If Tommy or Jack are reading this set this place up and add to the forums ToS.
My 2 cents.
P.S. If it seems like I repeat myself I noticed that.

Make no mistake, even with my god-like MAD TROLLING SKILLZ, nothing seems to have any substance on this forum. I thought that chick from America was supposed to be sorting all the crap out.

You need a moderator that zaps these posts in a timely fasion (less then 24hrs perhaps) and terminate each user that posts even one of these crap spam messages.
A bit of work, but better then having negative press and comments concerning your website which your forums are part of.

Yeah, we really do.
Becky would be taking on that responsiblity but she's busy with the tour, and for the same reason she's not been around to appoint a moderator from one of us.

Hurrah! Maybe this forum can return to how it was back when VGL was all fields.
I think I've used the 'all fields' joke too many times this week...

Be sure to spread the word that the forums are back on line. It would be wonderful to populate them with awesome activity once more!

Good to see the forums free of spam. It was truly annoying to go through all those spam messages, so thank you very much for cleaning that up :)

I'm gonna buy tickets for VGL Dallas when they're available this next month! Hopefully I can get just about in the middle or back of the orchestra seating like I did in Jones Hall when I went last year.
My friend Nathan and I are considering buying tickets for VGL Houston too, but I'm not sure if we will or not since we're gonna go to the one in Dallas. We'll see, I guess!

Anyway, I noticed we have no miscellaneous "Other" discussion forum.

Nope, not me; my sig's the same as it's always been. I'm from Ohio, anyways. And as to linking to faces, it's not like I've ever shown mine around here.
And Themo, admins shouldn't be showing favoritism. Especially not when half the reason is likely to apply to most everyone on the board. :D

Major oldskool posters I can think of are Terraguy, Tom-Tom (or however he had it formatted), and... erm...
Hang on.
Let's look through that .txt file of that thread I started for some research into how people got into games music...
Ah, I forgot about Z-Freak and TurnOnTheBrightLights.
It's all coming back to me now.
Trusty old Notepad.
Also, I remember that guy who made a custom VGL sig of him with his thumb down and the caption "Failure". I think his name was ManInHisThirtiesHavingATemperTantrumMoreBefittingO fATwoYearOld or something.

It's been an incredible 4 months for us with touring all over the world and setting up lots of shows for 2007! We're going to be putting out a big e-mail blast to everyone letting them know what's been going on. Next week is crazy for us because of the Game Developers Conference and our San Fran show with Koji Kondo... but it should be coming within the next few weeks.
Thanks! Glad to be back!!!!

Maaan, I wish I could go to GDC this year. Maybe next ti- wait no, third year. Maybe the time after that. Oh wait, girlfriend's third year. Damn.
Oh well, next Thursday I'll probably be surrounded by games developing Notherners in Liverpool who feel the same way.
Get Koji Kondo to record a new video segment, seeing as he hasn't been "busy working on Twilight Princess" for quite some time.
Oh, and tell him if he comes over here I'll buy him a packet of crisps. Not just any crisps. McCoy's for you Kondo-san.

Hey Welcome back Tommy. Glad to hear everything went well. I wanna take this time to say I appreciate all the work you and everyone at VGL has been doing. Keep up the great work and game on!
For all those still worried about the spam. Don't worry I check the site everyday. If anyone Spams. It'll either be gone the same day or the next day. In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the VGL Forum will be reorganized into the first Spamless Forum, for a safe and secure Forum.

So... um...
General Discussion forum? Even if it would just have about 6 or 7 people generally discussing for now, it'd make the boards appear more social from their front page - potentially encouraging new and interesting people to join - and stop us hijacking threads or trying to squeeze general-shaped-posts into specific-shaped-topics they don't fit.
Like how I'm asking for a General Discussion forum, in a thread about prolific spammers, under the topic of "General Questions" about Video Games Live.

Found one of them again, specifically the one mentioned earlier containing the poster formerly known as Z-Freak. I had a few other people's responses to those questions in another file but it appears to have been lost to the ether. I don't even appear to have the PowerPoint presentation they ended up in anymore.

05-30-2009, 09:17 PM
Yeah, I did say so in the first post of that thread way back then. I and a couple of friends were presenting a tedious ramble about the culture surrounding videogame music.
... time passes...
I just checked the archived version of the old boards. The thread, entitled "Research, Research I say!" (God, I really hate everything I ever wrote before 2007), was recent enough to be listed in the Favorite Video Game Music subforum, but it's not archived so I doubt the rest of the responses will be found any time soon. Shame really.

B.T.W - What will happen to Terraguy when the 1,000 post comes? Will the post counter go beyond 999 or will it start all over at 0? *Insert creepy music background.*
