Great review, I'm glad you enjoyed the show!!
With regards to the videos that accompany the music, we've been advocating better videos for ages (especially regarding the Sonic segment where they keep dying throughout the entire thing), so you're not the only one ;p That being said, however, we can't actually show any video footage for OWA (or any other SquareEnix game) as SE has refused us the rights to use game footage. For the first couple of years all that filled the screen was the VGL logo and occasional live feeds of the orchestra. The fact that we found a loophole in that we could use fanart and cosplay pictures just gives the audience something slightly more interesting to look at whilst the segment plays. I agree its not an ideal solution, but its better than nothing. Thanks for spreading the word and I hope you continue to stick around on the forums!

Figured it was something like that....but sheesh, they can give the rights to the music but not to the videos? It's free advertising for them!
Do you happen to know what the Skype segment was? I saw it in the program but couldn't figure out which part of the show it was supposed to be. |

From what I've gathered SE are generally quite stingy with their rights anyway, so it likely took quite a lot of work to get what we have anyway! (Kingdom Hearts is the exception here, the music rights are owned by Disney so that was okay, its just the visual stuff that is owned by SE hence the old disney footage) Besides, SE run their own shows (Dear Friends, More Friends, Distant Worlds etc.) so why should they hand out rights to their own music for a small royalty payment when they are able to fill concert halls themselves and receives masses of money from it. Its a much better business model, it just alienates some of the fans...
I've honestly not a clue what the Skype segment was supposed to be. I don't suppose there were any satellite video feeds of composers, possibly? Most of the intros are pre-recorded (hence why most regulars will have seen them several times by now), but its possible they did something similar but had a live video link or something. Honestly though, its not something I've come across before, and as I've never been able to pick up a program, I'm not sure what you're referencing... Maybe someone else has an idea?

VGL has been doing a recent Skype segment with Ralph Baer, so it is entirely possible that's what the Skype segment is referring to.
