Hehe. For me, I still have a VCR. I need to get a disc recorder. I want to get a DVR, but I don't want to get pay for subscription and want DRM. I do use my computer for HDTV, but I hate it leaving it on all day due to heat and power and it isn't that stable. VCRs never crash.

Yep, I still have VCRs as well as the DVD players, as I have WAY too many VHS tapes around to just get rid of the VCR (I hope to transfer a lot of the stuff to DVD eventually just in case something happens to the tapes).
I hate when VCRs mess up tapes though... there's a lot more to break, unravel and get stuck in a VHS tape than there is in a DVD or CD.

I only use one tape and I only use it to record and playback.

Just watched it, but was disappointed by how short it was, it felt like 70% of the time was fundraising and 30% was the VGL concert.

It was very enjoyable, just too short!

About how long did the show itself (minus pledge time, etc) actually last?

For 1.5 hours? Maybe I don't want to watch this.

Just a note. PBS functions off pledges, so naturally, a large amount of time will be devoted towards pledges. It's unfortunate, but that's just the way it works.

Yes 1.5 hours, what they showed was great and they mixed in some interviews to! Just have something else to do for those 10+ min (I know they're at least 10 min. long) fundraising breaks and it's not to bad. According to one note on PBS the concert was supposed to be 56 min long. including end credits., so that would only be about 35 min. of pledge drive.

one suggestion would be to listen to the original music that you just heard them play. They did World of Warcraft (two different songs one was from finishing the elfenblood(?) quest--I'm not a WOW player), Civilizations, Sonic the Hedgehog, God of War, Zelda, Mario, Castlevania, a RockBand contest , and several others.

Lament of the Highborne. I'm not a WOW player either, but I love that song to death <3 -and I discovered it through VGL.

The story behind it is pretty heart-wrenching. Sylvanas was a Sin'Dorei who was murdered by Arthas and brought back as an undead. She rebelled against the Lich King and won her freedom and is the queen of the Forsaken, other undead who likewise broke free of the Lich King's control.

In the newbie area of the blood elves, you find a necklace intended for Sylvanas from her older sister, Alleria. You take it to Sylvanas and at first she scorns it, but once you've "left", she walks over and picks it up, then sings the Lament.

I was blown away the first time I saw it in game and I take every Horde newbie I have out to the Ghostlands just to do that quest.
