Still, those rabid Japanese Monster Hunter fans, for whom it is (for the moment) specifically intended as I understand it, would walk through fire for new instalments, so I'm sure it'll do its job.
It looks like it's wearing a diaper. =_=

If anything I'm curious what other games they'll be using it for and the cost of it of course. I mean if they new they were going to sell games on it with that functionality why didn't they just make it with the second stick included?

It reminds me of some console accessories from the 90s.

It seems a fairly simple piece of hardware. Even if they make it expensive, I'm sure there'll be non-official ones on sale at a much low price (like a Madcatz product, lol).
Did they know? I seems like a last hour decision.

According to this rumour, Nintendo are in the process of developing the next generation 3DS which will have milder 3D settings and will include as part of the device a second analogue stick. Apparently they are already encouraging as many game developers to make use of the second stick as possible, but in order for early adopters and those who want the original 3DS extreme to be able to play the games which require the second analogue stick, they've created that accessory to give the 3DS a second analogue stick.

Frankly, I think that will end up being too unwieldy and awkward to use, especially as it looks as if it will restrict access to the ABXY buttons, so if ever we reached that stage, I'd probably trade in my 3DS for a Vita! (Persona 5 and the 999 sequel FTW)

The "milder 3D settings" thing is either a mistranslation of the article which first presented the rumour, a mistranslation by said article of its source, or both, as two seconds thinking about it should make abundantly clear - how, precisely, could a stereoscopic display be less-two-imagey?

What it probably actually means is that Nintendo are planning on rebranding and refocusing their marketing of the system or its inevitable semi-successor (look at the number of original DS SKUs and tell me you didn't see this coming) to gloss over the 3D feature because, they have realised, nobody cares. In fact, look at any ads for the 3DS or its software from the last two or three months and you will see virtually zero mention of 3D features, suggesting that they're already well into this change of direction.

If it comes with extra battery power, then I'm all for it.

I just hope we get Monster Hunter as well. Been craving a new version for aaaages, (and my PSP is basically a zombie after my older brother dropped it into the toilet).

I think its one of those things you have to hold in your hand to judge.

It looks bad, but it may actually be real comfortable.

I just wonder why the thumbstick couldn't just wrap around the front of the unit under the buttons on the right.

Be less wide then...
