Default The Royal Academy of Katamari

The Royal Academy of Katamari from We Love Katamari (the one that plays during the narration at the beginning) is the perfect orchestra song from that series of games. It's one of my favorite orchestra pieces, and I would love to hear it as part of the repertoire, so that's my music suggestion.

Which song is that exactly? Anyone have a link or .mp3? Does it have vocals? That is the only problem with playing a lot of Katamari music is because they have really unique vocals that may not sound good without them. I currently play "Katamari on the Swing" (I think that's the name) in the background during the 20 minute intermission. That is my favorite Katamari tune... but again... has very unique vocals.

T.T.

Maybe when you finally go for that TBA Tokyo date you should see if you can get the original artists to perform. It'd probably go down somewhat better than Medal of Honor would there, given that they're none too receptive of FPSs. Especially FPSs in which they're portrayed as offensive racial stereotypes (I'm looking at you Rising Sun and your katana wielding nutcases).

Then slap that performance on the long-awaited DVD for the world to see.

You know it makes sense.

I have to go with Swish on this one....

It only makes sense. Have Katamari songs playing in its home country.

The Royal Academy of Katamari

zomg This is one of those "dream" pieces that I would love to play someday (clarinetists represent lol). Anything Katamari is fine, but this would be fantastic.

And about the "unique" vocals: pieces like "Tsuki to Ouji" wouldn't work because Jap-rap doesn't quite translate into classical music. And, depending on the vocals, they could translate fairly easily into instrumental form. The thing about Katamari is that it is very quirky and very silly, but still structured. The structure keeps it transferrable to a more classical setting, and I think that the quirkiness and the humor are less a problem of the instrumental limitations but rather the playing itself. As long as the instrumentalists themselves understand the style (wacky, goofy) then it will be a bit less problematic putting it all together. For example, something like "Sakurairo no Kisetsu" would be utterly incredible. Just find a boys' choir and soloist and voilà: perfection!

Suggestions:
from Katamari Fortissimo Damacy
Katamari on the Rocks -Main Theme-
Fugue #7777 (tell me this wouldn't be amazing! Even just something simple like three vocalists: baritone, tenor, soprano)
Lonely Rolling Star (ahhh I would die of happiness)
Makka na Bara to Gin Tonic
Que Sera Sera
Katamaritaino
Katamari Stars (so relaxing)
Sakurairo no Kisetsu (I would love to sing this! I've got a mean falsetto, haha)
Ai no Katamari -Ending Theme- (Japanese power ballad! Ahh, I love it)

from Minna Daisuki Katamari Damacy
Katamari on the Swing
Tenshi no Ame
Houston
Katamari Holiday (fun and goofy)
Baby Universe
DISCO*PRINCE (hahaha this would be awesome)
Shakunetsu no Savana (okay, this would work really well. Translate the animal sounds into different instruments. Very parody-esque, à la Carnival of the Animals)
The Royal Academy of Katamari (zomg yes!)

I second Lonely Rolling Star. I can't stop playing that one. At the very least play it blaringly loud in the interval since it doesn't really suit orhestra.
